As I was browsing my Gmail earlier, I noticed an email coming from Jobstreet - a daily update of current hiring jobs that may suit my skills. I clicked on the link and skimmed on the list. Imagine my surprise when I saw the column for companies with Friendster, Inc. listed on it.

With over 60 million members, Friendster (www.friendster.com) is one of the most recognized online social networks in the world Friendster 2.0 is positioned as more upmarket and innovative than its competitors. Friendster generates more than 14 billion page views per month. The site allows people to stay connected to friends while sharing and discovering media (pictures, music, video and blogs) with them. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, and with office in Metro Manila, Philippines, Friendster is backed by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers.

Friendster is currently seeking a Senior Web Application Product Manager with experience developing in a high-volume commercial/consumer web application. This position will be a member of the Engineering team and will participate in the continued development of Friendster’s patent pending social network database technology as well as the development of other key infrastructural components of our service.

Friendster seems to take the path of Google and Yahoo in hiring Filipinos for their respective companies - Google hiring a Country Representative and Yahoo hiring an Online Community Manager for the Philippines. If only I have the skills required for the position, I would have tried applying and sending out my resume but with only my meager years experience in IT and limited knowledge of IT proficiency, I’m not even close to half of its requirements. It would have been great to work with these three Internet giants. Wouldn’t it be awesome? :D

The Friendster office here in the Philippines is located in Legazpi Village, Makati City. If you think you’re qualified enough or you know someone who is and willing to work in Makati, apply here.
