Chris Brown and Rihanna’s concert in Manila was the real concert of the year! With 70,000 people who attended the much anticipated event, it is a sure thing that you should not be missed! It was a bit bitin but then again, they still performed here in Manila.
Jennina and I arrived at the Fort Bonifacio Open Field 15 minutes before 5PM. When we got there, a lot of cars have been piling up thus causing traffic. When we got into our area (Gold), the best spots are already occupied. Too bad we didn’t arrive earlier as planned (around 3PM). Eventhough the concert will start at 8PM, a lot of people are already in the Open Field waiting for Chris Brown and Rihanna.
Chris Brown started the concert at around 8PM. He came to the stage hanging down from the top. The people around us are mostly Chris Brown fans - singing and dancing to his hits eventhough we are soCLOSE to each other - literally. I almost gave up and wanted to stay at the back just to avoid the commotion. It was a mosh pit!
Chris Brown grooved to his hits such as “Kiss Kiss”, “Run It”, “Forever” and “With You”. He also danced along on Michael Jackson songs and sang his much sentimental hit “Say Goodbye”. The DJ with Chris Brown was encouraging the crowd to go to Alchemy for the after party. Eventhough, Jordin Sparks was not around he still sang “No Air” much to the audience’s delight. Too bad, he didn’t perform “Superhuman” which I was somewhat expecting.
There was a 30-minute intermission before Rihanna went up to the stage. While waiting for Rihanna, there were fireworks coloring the sky near the area of the concert. Heard it was from Rihanna’s production. It was not too long when Rihanna continued the people’s excitement opening her show with “Disturbia”. One thing I noticed though, the people were already tired during Rihanna’s performance. Some of the people in our area moved back maybe because Chris Brown is no longer in sight. The stage production and her costume was the same in her concert in Australia. She sang her hits mostly from her Good Girl Gone Bad album like “Shut Up and Drive”, “Please Don’t Stop the Music”, “Rehab” and “Unfaithful” to name a few. Rihanna also sang her song with Neyo, “Hate That I Love You”. Her last two performances were “Take A Bow” and “Umbrella” wherein the crowd went wild when Chris Brown joined Rihanna on the stage and sang the remix of Umbrella, “Cinderella”.
All in all the concert was a success! I hope more international stars will come to the Philippines. It was tiring but I guess it was worth it! Come back to Manila, Rihanna and Chris Brown!
